The Hungry Forest is a deliciously atmospheric middle grade horror that reminded me of The Whisperwicks and Over the Garden Wall. When two brothers hear the voice of their dead dad, coming from the forest that is their local urban legend and is 100% off limits because of the number of people who have disappeared inside, they can’t help but go in, just in case. At night, the forest is crawling with masked monsters, and they need to make it out by morning or they’ll be trapped there forever.
